I can't tell you how wonderful it was working with your staff on our Gyro Convention over the weekend.  I heard many, many comments about how great the hotel was and how clean it was from the people who attended. That shows a tremendous attention to detail by the whole staff.

I've already told them individually, but wanted to tell you how great it was working with Nancy Sullivan, Kathy Marrokal, and Jim Kerr.  They really took care of me and our guests.  Any thing I asked got handled. Where I was a "Nervous Nelly", they were calm, business-like and effective getting any little thing done promptly.  They put me at ease right away.


But beyond them, I've got to comment about every staff member I met. They were all courteous, pleasant, and upbeat – from the front desk staff, to the housekeeping folks I ran into in the hall, to the banquet staff, to a chef (when I asked to delay serving dessert), to the maintenance guy who Kathy lassoed to help hang a banner – everyone was ready to help and was really courteous and accommodating.  You'd think I was the only guest and ours was the only event at the hotel over the weekend.  One of those people had to be having a bad day, but I never knew it.  All that reflects well on you, so I thank you too.

Thanks for a wonderful weekend and for helping to make our convention a success.  Though it'll be years before we have another convention in Youngstown, we'll certainly think of Holiday Inn South for any events we do have and I'm sure the conventioneers will remember you when they travel by Youngstown.

We recently stayed at your hotel to attend a family wedding. Over the years we have stayed with family in Youngstown, and had no need of a hotel. It is good to know however that for future visits we have a great place to stay. This is possible because of some of the outstanding staff you have in place.

My first contact with your hotel was Samantha. After explaining what I was looking for and her advisement that it might not be feasible, she promised to look into the matter and call me back. That return call occurred sooner than I expected, and she was able to assist me with some of our requirements. I have never heard anyone so excited at solving a problem for a client.  Samantha thoroughly impressed me with her attitude and effort. You should be gratified that someone with that type of attitude is greeting your guests.  I am sure she is the bright spot for many who stay there.  Samantha takes ownership of the guests' problems and inserts 110% effort into solving same. I would encourage that effort.

The second call to the hotel reached Anita, as Samantha was not in at the time. After explaining the steps taken, Anita understood our concerns and did the right thing...she passed my call over to Bill. Note that this was while we were en route to Ohio via air (coming from Bermuda) and this efficiency was appreciated. Bill took over and once he looked at how the reservations were laid out, realized what could be done, and advised me that when we arrived, all would be as required for the stay.  He immediately put my concerns to rest and then I was able to go on with keeping the family happy on the travel and also proceed with my business calls while in the Reagan Airport waiting for the connecting flight.  As he promised, when we arrived all was in place for our stay with 'loose ends' wrapped up! Once again – a key player at your hotel taking ownership and solving the problem.

You should be proud these people are in doing the job out front, and I compliment you for having them on staff.  It is my hope that you share this email with each and place a copy in their files as a complimentary guest reference.

This Holiday Inn and it's staff should be a MODEL! I have never been in ANY hotel where I felt so welcome from the onset. The staff was so friendly and helpful. If every Holiday Inn had staff like this one, you would never have a room open anywhere, anytime!

Our waiter at the hotel dining room was excellent, I asked questions regarding the pork dinner (I wanted to duplicate it at home) and he was extremely helpful going back to check the ingredients wit the chef and making sure I wrote the ingredients down correctly. We had an after dinner drink in the lounge and the woman who waited on us was very helpful offering us a number of drink ideas.
